Cooling Mats for Dogs – How They Work 

How do dog cooling mats work? 

Our dog cooling mats use a self-cooling nylon–mica fabric on the top layer to help warm bodies feel cooler. The surface is breathable and comfortable, helping dogs settle better on hot days. 

How do pet gel cooling mats work? 

A gel pet cooling mat often uses a phase change material (PCM). f you want a deeper breakdown,read our Cooling mats guide. When your dog lies on the mat, the gel absorbs body heat. Once it has absorbed enough warmth, it won’t feel as cool until it recharges. 

When the ambient temperature drops, the gel cools down again, becomes firmer, and releases stored heat into the air. A gel cooling pad for dogs needs no electricity and no refrigeration—just leave it unused (often overnight) so it can reset. 

Recharge tip: leave the mat unused in a cooler area overnight so it feels firmer again by morning.
